Vincent's works invite rather than oblige us to interrogate our daily interaction with the world, stimulating our ability to redefine for ourselves an attitude in harmony with reality. The approach of a scholar when consulting the " Classics of Changes" (Yi Jing) becomes accessible to us through the use of simple yet strong images, and a ouch of humour (unlike the parodic traits practised by Wang Qingsong) necessary to attract the attention of the most sceptical audience. Following Chinese calligraphic practice, in his painting and sculpture, Vincent conjures up life-like images; his work bears a metaphorial depiction of the contradictions of our man-made universe. In harmony with Chinese pictorial tradition, his work inspires scenes designed to frighten, movem surprise and question the audience. The artist's aspiration is to establish a univeral dialogue by revealing traits of his intimate obsessions. The human being, though invisible, is at the core of all his work. Modesty. Tenderness. Intuition. Rebellion too. But also hope entangled in the net of forecasts of catastrophe. It is on the canvas, in his sculptures and his installations, through the precise contour of these shapes, that Vincent expresses the essence of his feelings. 2007~ General
